A girl around 15 years old has died after a serious traffic accident at Södervärn in Malmö on Friday afternoon. A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of gross causing of another’s death and gross negligence in traffic.

The alarm came in around 3:30 PM and several police patrols, ambulances, and rescue units were dispatched to the scene. The accident occurred in one of Malmö’s busiest areas during the afternoon rush hour.

Many people were present in the area when the accident happened, and several witnesses saw the incident. According to reports from the scene, the girl was hit while crossing a pedestrian crossing.

Witnesses describe how a car came speeding and then hit the girl before additional vehicles collided in a chain crash.

Police announced later in the evening that the girl had died from her injuries in the hospital. Another person was also taken to hospital after the accident.

The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, was arrested shortly after the incident. He is now suspected of gross causing of another’s death and gross negligence in traffic.
