The police suspect that a gang is specifically targeting elderly women, especially widows, and the robberies are becoming more violent each time. Now the police are appealing to the public for help.
A few days ago, a woman in her 80s was subjected to aggravated robbery and attempted rape. This was the fourth similar case in a short time in Huskvarna.
The previous incidents occurred on the night of December 31, early in the morning of January 7, and early on January 8.
No suspects have been arrested yet, and now the police are appealing to the public for tips.

– All of these have the same modus operandi: elderly people are affected, where unknown perpetrators gain entry to their homes, steal valuables, and then leave. The perpetrators have, in various ways, convinced the elderly to open the door, either by knocking or ringing the bell, says Martina Gradian, police spokesperson in the Eastern region, to Aftonbladet.
All of the victims have been in their 80s and authorities believe it could be the same group of perpetrators. The attacks have also been extremely violent.

Widespread Concern
On Tuesday, the police visited the PRO (Swedish National Pensioners’ Organization) in Huskvarna to inform about the situation. One of those at the meeting was 81-year-old Agnetha Tryggmer.
– Where I live, we lock the door early in the evening and keep it locked until late morning. At night, nobody can get in unless they break down the door, she told Expressen.
At the same time, community police officer Madelene Andersson urges elderly people not to be afraid, but to be vigilant—lock the door, do not let in unauthorized people, and be attentive to suspicious behavior, vehicles, or persons.
Anyone with tips regarding the assaults and the perpetrators can call the police at 114 14.
