In the summer of 2025, a boy was assaulted and deprived of his liberty by three teenagers—two with immigrant backgrounds and one Swedish—who, among other things, forced the victim to kiss their shoes. All three suspected perpetrators have now been convicted of several crimes.

On June 4, 2025, the boy was attacked in Östercentrum and forced to accompany them to Hästarnas dal in Visby on Gotland. In addition to the abduction and assault, which included a slap in the face, the boy was also subjected to humiliation by being forced to kneel and kiss the perpetrators’ shoes.

During interrogation, the now convicted perpetrators confessed to the incident and admitted to some of the offenses. The evidence includes, among other things, images from surveillance cameras and videos from mobile phones.

“The behavior is considered reckless and the acts could be expected to violate the victim’s peace in a significant way,” states the indictment.

The trio were charged in Gotland District Court with unlawful deprivation of liberty and unlawful coercion. One was also charged with assault and unlawful threats and another with sexual harassment.

All three have been sentenced to juvenile care. Two of the individuals have Middle Eastern-sounding names, while the third has a Swedish-sounding name. They must also pay SEK 15,000 in damages to the victim.
