Hungary has gained a reputation in :censored:6:cdd6bbaa89: politics for maintaining diplomatic relations with countries and superpowers that are in geopolitical conflict with one another—be it Russia, China, or the USA. This has prompted a strong reaction from SVT personality Edward Blom. He exemplifies his criticism by asserting that maintaining diplomatic contacts with a country that Hungary relies on for its energy infrastructure is worse than gang rapes in Sweden. According to the chef, a Swede who does not wish to continue sending billions without a cap to Ukraine is also a “Putin sympathizer”.
In the past 24 hours, Blom has been vocal on social media platform X, where he comments on news that Hungary is blocking the EU’s 20th sanctions package against Russia as well as the monster loan of 953 billion SEK to Ukraine. This follows Ukraine’s move to block the flow of oil in the pipelines between Russia and Hungary that pass through Ukraine.

Hungary has expressed outrage that the oil flow is not permitted to pass through Ukraine, even as Hungary—and Slovakia—allow deliveries of fuel and electricity and receive Ukrainian refugees.
In the past week, the war of words between the countries has escalated, and Hungary considers it absurd that the EU leadership in Brussels ignores a member state and instead sides with a non-member when that country’s actions threaten a member state’s energy infrastructure.

Edward Blom appears undemocratic in his stance by not accepting that another EU member state can have a differing opinion—especially when that country seeks to protect its own energy infrastructure, which cannot be converted overnight. According to Blom, Hungary is pursuing an “evil policy” by wanting oil delivered via pipelines, despite lacking a coastline.
He further argues that Hungary should be ostracized for its position in the war, maintaining diplomatic relations with Russia and pushing for peace negotiations instead of continued fighting.

“I am very fond of Hungary as a country, but with the evil policies they are pursuing today, Hungary should be suspended from the EU until they vote out all the pro-Putin swines,” writes the SVT personality on X.
“Infinitely Worse”
One person replied to Edward Blom, putting the evil, from the perspective of Hungary’s diplomatic relations, in a Swedish context, writing: “It’s better with gang rapes, an extreme amount of murders and other crap, like we have in this country.”
Blom replied: “Yes, supporting Putin’s Russia is infinitely much worse,” he declared, before adding that crime in Sweden must also be fought.

Criticizing the Billion-Flow: “Putin Sympathizer”
SVT personality and cultural historian Edward Blom, who is also known as a food and drink connoisseur, has also strongly criticized those who want a more critical debate on the extensive use of tax money for Ukraine.

In a post in the last day, he criticizes the fact that Sweden is one of the biggest donors to Ukraine—through taxpayer-financed efforts that have now surpassed 128 billion SEK and are expected to continue to rise after further billions have been allocated until 2027—calling such critics “Putin sympathizers”.

In the comments section, several people have reacted to Edward Blom’s stance. One person writes: “I think it sounds like you are what you accuse others of being.”
Blom, however, asserts that it is right to throw out the “evil villain”. Afterwards, another person points out that what Blom is advocating is not democracy, but rather could be described as fascism.
