With just a couple of weeks left until the first Advent, it’s also time to start thinking about Christmas and all that it entails. However, for many Swedes, December doesn’t just bring positive feelings, as a new survey shows.

In a survey conducted by YouGov on behalf of Amazon Sweden, eight out of ten Swedes report feeling stressed about some aspect of the Christmas season.

The most stressful aspects are the Christmas presents, followed by financial concerns. Among younger adults, financial stress affects almost every other person.

37% say they would consider taking time off work just to manage all the preparations for Christmas. A larger proportion of women than men are open to this.

“This confirms the picture of how it’s often women and parents of young children who take on the role of Christmas project managers, needing to balance finances and tight schedules,” Amazon writes.

This year, the average amount that Swedes plan to spend on Christmas presents is just over 3,000 SEK. 89% shop during sales.
