A powerful detonation occurred during the night leading into Wednesday at the entrance to an apartment building in Rinkeby, western Stockholm. This is the second night in a row that the same address has been targeted by an explosion.

The police received the alert around 01:30 a.m. after several residents heard a loud bang and called 112. At the scene on Ovanbygränd, police and emergency services confirmed that an explosion had taken place at an entrance. No one is reported to have been injured, but the material damage is extensive.

According to police, the damage is greater than that from the bombing the night before, when the same entrance was also attacked. Both the main door and several window panes were shattered by the detonation.

The incident is classified as aggravated destruction endangering the public, and no suspect has yet been apprehended. Police are now investigating whether there is a connection between the two explosions, but do not wish to comment at this time on how such a link could look like.

Several police patrols have been working in the area overnight. The investigation work includes speaking with residents, especially in the affected stairwell, and mapping which people are in the vicinity of the address.

The police state that they will also remain at the site throughout the morning, and will then decide how their continued effort should be structured in order to strengthen safety and prevent further crimes.
