After the Liberal Party’s agreement with the Sweden Democrats, Alexander Bard announced that he is rejoining the party. However, tensions rose during a discussion about Fredrick Federley’s political comeback with a top SD politician.

In 2008, Alexander Bard joined the Liberal People’s Party but left two years later. After being involved with Citizens’ Coalition, he rejoined the Liberals in 2020, only to leave again the same year. Now, following Liberal leader Simona Mohamsson’s agreement with Jimmie Åkesson and the Sweden Democrats—where the party will not oppose SD taking a place in a future government—Bard is returning again.

A few days later, Bard commented on former MP and EU parliamentarian Fredrick Federley’s political comeback ahead of the election. Federley is listed as a candidate for both the municipal council in Gagnef and the regional council in Dalarna.

In 2020, Federley left politics after it came to light that he had been in a relationship with a convicted pedophile. According to Bard, it is “bloody obvious you should give a second chance to someone who gives others a chance”:

This prompted a reaction from Jessica Stegrud (SD), a stance which Bard referred to as “lynch mobbing” while claiming that the best way to “cure” a pedophile is “sex with other adults”:

Stegrud then pointed out that Federley chose to move in with a convicted child rapist while also having a young daughter living in the same household:
