The American intelligence agency CIA is working to send weapons to Kurdish militias in Iran, according to a report by CNN.

Sources tell the American news channel that the Trump administration has actively discussed the issue of military support with opposition groups and Kurdish leaders.

The CIA is described as a crucial component in these efforts, and the American intelligence agency is said to have worked on smuggling weapons to militia groups in Iran to undermine the country’s regime.

On Tuesday, Donald Trump personally spoke with Mustafa Hijri, the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI). The KDPI is a militant Kurdish communist party formed at the end of World War II with support from the Soviet Union.

The United States and the American president are now reportedly hoping for help from the communist militia to overthrow the Iranian government in Tehran.
