US President Donald Trump announces that he plans to take BBC to court after the revelation that parts of his speech were manipulated. During a press conference aboard Air Force One, Trump stated that the claim will amount to between one and five billion dollars, equivalent to approximately 9-47 billion kronor.

The scandal surrounding BBC erupted last week when it was revealed that the company had edited a sequence from Donald Trump’s speech on January 6, 2021. By misleadingly editing parts of the speech, the video gave the impression that Trump was urging his supporters to attack the US Capitol.

BBC has dismissed responsible executives and apologized for the broadcast, but still refuses to compensate Trump for the misleading editing. Now the president has decided to take the British public service giant to court and demand a multi-billion compensation.

“I think I have to. They have admitted to cheating. They changed the words that came out of my mouth,” Trump said on Friday evening when commenting on the matter.

“It shows that BBC is fake news. We have known that for a long time,” the president continued.

Trump has previously indicated that he intended to sue the British public service channel, but the amounts he mentioned then were significantly lower than the range he now refers to, between one and five billion dollars, that is, approximately 9-47 billion kronor.

The American president states that the legal process is imminent and may start as early as next week.
