The American President Donald Trump has announced that he will classify the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization. The group has long been accused of destabilizing the Middle East, radicalizing young Muslims, and attempting to influence the internal affairs of other countries.

Trump stated to the site Just the News that the Muslim Brotherhood will be designated as a terrorist organization. According to the site, Trump has been considering this since his first presidency, and there is growing concern within the administration about the group’s activities.

“It will be done in the strongest and most forceful terms,” said Trump, adding that the final documents are being drafted.

The Muslim Brotherhood is an Islamist Sunni Muslim religious and political movement founded in Egypt in 1928 by Hassan al-Banna. It is known as one of the world’s oldest and most influential Islamist organizations with branches, parties, and affiliated movements around the world.

The movement sees Islam not only as a religion but as a comprehensive way of life and has been banned in Egypt since 2013 and classified as a terrorist organization in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Syria, and the United Arab Emirates.

Republicans in the House of Representatives and the Senate, together with some Democrats, have been pushing for the group to be classified as a foreign terrorist organization.

Republican Senator Ted Cruz introduced a bill this summer to classify the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization.

“The Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist organization and supports branches of the Muslim Brotherhood that are terrorist organizations. One of these branches is Hamas, which on October 7 committed the worst single-day massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, including the murder and kidnapping of at least 53 Americans,” Cruz said this summer.

“They are committed to overthrowing and destroying America and other non-Islamist governments around the world, posing an acute threat to American national security interests. American allies in the Middle East and Europe have already classified the Brotherhood as a terrorist organization, and the USA should do the same, and do it quickly.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott classified both the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations, CAIR, as “foreign terrorist organizations and transnational criminal organizations” a week before Trump did.
