28-year-old Mohammed Obied has been sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison and lifetime deportation after raping and assaulting a woman in Eslöv, more than 25 years his senior. According to the verdict, obtained by Samnytt, the rape is described as the culmination of a relationship that, over time, escalated to become increasingly destructive and violent on Mohammed’s part. The woman, who had helped Mohammed come to Sweden, remained silent for a long time about what was happening—she did not want to jeopardize the Moroccan man’s residence permit.
The woman and the man got to know each other online and started a relationship while the man was living in Morocco. The woman traveled there and later helped him come to Sweden, where he was granted a residence permit due to his connection to her.
“Cultural and religious differences”
After the man moved to Sweden, the couple lived together at times, first in Torna Hällestad in Skåne, and later in Eslöv. According to the woman, the relationship changed over time and became more and more conflict-ridden. Police were called to their home several times due to altercations. In police interviews, the woman described how her everyday life deteriorated.
– Cultural differences, the honeymoon was over, age difference and religious differences caught up with us.

She has also stated that the Moroccan began partying more, using drugs, being unfaithful and becoming increasingly aggressive.
– The assaults got more frequent, he did not accept ‘no’ in bed, and was verbally abusive, she stated.
Convicted of rape and aggravated assault
Mohammed was prosecuted for several serious crimes, including rape, aggravated assault, assault, and witness intimidation. Lund District Court finds him guilty of rape, committed on August 7, 2025 in Eslöv, as well as two cases of aggravated assault and another assault in close connection to these incidents.
He is also convicted of threatening the woman to prevent her from telling the truth to the police, classified as witness intimidation. In addition to crimes against the woman, he was convicted of drunk driving, minor drug offenses, and resisting arrest at the time of his apprehension.
The District Court sentences the man to four years and six months in prison. He will also be deported from Sweden and banned from re-entering.
Acquitted of gross violation of a woman’s integrity
The charge of gross violation of a woman’s integrity, however, was dismissed. The court found that there were elements of self-defense in certain situations and noted that the woman herself had testified in court that on some occasions she had been both verbally and physically aggressive toward the man.

At the same time, the court stressed that this did not change the assessment of the crimes for which the man was convicted. The rape is described as the most serious offense in the case.
“Mother figure and savior”
Moroccan Mohammed Obied has denied the crimes against the woman and claimed that he largely tried to endure her behavior. He described the relationship as mutual and said that the sexual acts were consensual. During the trial, he said he was dependent on the woman.
“He was dependent on the plaintiff and perhaps saw her as a mother figure and a savior, but he did everything he could to make her happy.”
The woman has given a completely different account. She has detailed how she was subjected to violence and sexual abuse, and how the man, after the rape, allegedly said:
“I managed to come inside you at least, I get what I want, now you can report me for rape,” followed by a derogatory insult.
The court found her testimony to be clear, coherent, and credible. The court also emphasized that the woman had described circumstances not in her own favor, which, according to the court, strengthened her credibility.
Kept silent—did not want to risk Mohammed’s residence permit
The man must pay damages of just over 341,000 SEK to the woman. The money covers violation of her rights, pain and suffering, and loss of income.

During the trial, the woman explained that she refrained from contacting the police or seeking medical care for a long time despite her injuries. This was because she was afraid the man would lose his residence permit.
The District Court notes that she had obvious difficulties leaving the relationship, even though it had become increasingly destructive.
