The scandal surrounding the Syrian migrant who raped a 15-year-old girl at a festival in Småland, was sentenced to deportation – which was never carried out and later ran in the autumn church election – has now received new attention since Expressen brought up the issue several months later. Now, Minister of Migration Johan Forssell (M), who leads the so-called ‘paradigm shift’ in migration policy, comments on the deportation failure – using the word ‘sick’.
Prior to the church election at the end of the summer, Samnytt revealed that a Syrian man, who immigrated to Sweden and was convicted of rape and several other crimes and was supposed to be deported, ran in the election after being granted a new asylum review after claiming to have converted to Christianity. After our investigation – and interviews with both the convicted Syrian and the parish priest – the Syrian chose to withdraw his candidacy.

Now, several months later, Expressen has also chosen to highlight the case. This concerns the 29-year-old “Emil Jordensson”, who previously was named Noraldin Alhamamy. The Syrian immigrated to Sweden during the migrant chaos in 2015 and it didn’t take long in Sweden before he was convicted of crimes and also sentenced to deportation after raping a 15-year-old girl at the Emmaboda festival in Rasslebygd outside Emmaboda in 2017.
In connection with the rape, the Syrian held his hand over the victim’s mouth and claimed he had a knife. Despite being sentenced to deportation for the assault, he is still in Sweden – and has committed new crimes and ran in the church election.

The reason is that the Syrian has appealed the decision and claims that he would be forced to do military service if he returned to Syria. The Migration Agency did not believe him, but the Migration Court partially supported his claims and sent the case back, and since then he has remained in the country.
The initial application was rejected, but in December 2020, he was granted a temporary residence and work permit. The justification was the risk that he would be forced to perform military service if deported to Syria.
The Migration Court in Stockholm referred in its decision to a ruling by the EU Court of Justice stating that Syrian deserters should be allowed to stay within the EU, as Syria does not provide the opportunity to avoid military service on conscientious grounds.
This means that there is a so-called ‘enforcement obstacle’ – Jordensson could therefore not be deported without the risk of being sent back to a war zone, where he may be forced to participate in fighting against, among others, the Islamic State or other armed groups in the Syrian civil war.

Priest: ‘Understand what you’re up to’
Emil Jordensson, who now claims to be a Christian, became involved in the Swedish Church and ran as a candidate for the Congregation Group Maria in Ljungby parish in the autumn church election, hoping to be elected to the church council in Ljungby parish. But after media attention on his background, the convicted rapist church politician announced that he is stepping down.
“It has come to our attention that a candidate in the church election has been convicted of several crimes. The man has chosen to withdraw his candidacy in the church election, and his nomination group is now exploring the possibility of printing new ballot papers, where his name is not included,” wrote parish priest Axel Fors in a post on Facebook.

Before stepping down, Samnytt interviewed parish priest Axel Fors, who did not want to answer questions about his decision to give the convicted rapist Syrian the assignment as churchwarden in the parish.
– I understand what you’re up to, says parish priest Axel Fors to Samnytt.
Minister of Migration: ‘Sick’
Minister of Migration Johan Forssell (M) has commented on the case, stating that international conventions make it ‘unnecessarily difficult’ to deport individuals who have committed serious crimes in Sweden.
– It is of course sick. It is beyond criticism, says Minister of Migration Johan Forssell (M).

It is evident from Expressen’s reporting on the matter that the Syrian, also a church election candidate, has been in police custody since September but due to his criminal activities, he has been placed in detention.
