A man in his 20s has died following a shooting in Uppsala on Sunday evening. Shortly thereafter, a large police operation was launched, and during the night a person was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
The alert came at around 9 PM in the Kvarngärdet district, where several witnesses reported hearing bangs. When police and ambulance arrived, the man was found shot outdoors. His life could not be saved.
The area was cordoned off and police worked into the evening and night conducting forensic investigations, door-to-door inquiries, and witness interviews. A helicopter and several canine units participated in the operation.
On Monday morning, police confirmed that one person has been arrested and subsequently detained. The arrest took place at 4:15 AM, but authorities do not want to disclose any details regarding the suspect’s age, gender, or the charges.
At the same time, there are reports circulating that the person arrested is a child. According to information obtained by Aftonbladet, the suspect is believed to have fled the scene by train toward Stockholm before being apprehended there, but this has not been confirmed by the police.
