Ukraine’s government agrees to a 30-day ceasefire with Russia. This was announced in a statement on President Volodymyr Zelensky’s official website.
This week, Zelensky is visiting Saudi Arabia together with his Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
During the visit, the Ukrainian delegation will meet, among others, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is accompanied by National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

“Ukraine expressed readiness to accept the American proposal to adopt an immediate, interim 30-day ceasefire, which can be extended by mutual agreement between the parties, and which is simultaneously accepted and implemented by the Russian Federation,” the statement on the Ukrainian president’s website reads.
The agreement also entails Ukraine agreeing to a mineral deal with the USA, the resumption of military support, and the US once again sharing military intelligence with the war-torn country.
The new US government, led by Donald Trump, has exerted strong pressure on Ukraine to persuade them to lay down their arms and negotiate with Russia, including by halting American arms deliveries.
However, it is unclear how Russia views the American proposal for a ceasefire.
