A woman in southern Sweden has been reported to the police for incitement to hatred against an ethnic group after posting a picture along with an accompanying comment on the internet.

According to the report, the 50-year-old woman published a photo of a black man on Facebook and wrote, “These men must be active in bed but you don’t care about who you have children with.”

This, according to the so-called Näthatsgranskaren, could constitute incitement against an ethnic group, and the organization has now, according to Skånska Dagbladet, reported the woman to the police.

Näthatsgranskaren is an organization that since 2017 has monitored social media in search of posts and comments that could constitute criminal offenses, above all incitement against groups, unlawful threats, and defamation. The organization has made over 1,500 police reports and states that around 335 of them have resulted in convictions.

Their work is based, among other things, on technical tools that search for specific words and combinations of expressions, after which the material is reviewed manually before being reported.
