A man in his 40s living in Stockholm has now been convicted of rape after having sex with a woman who willingly participated in the act – but with the condition that a condom be used, which the man ignored. The punishment: Three years in prison and 230,000 kronor in damages.

A man and a woman met at a dance class and subsequently began a sexual relationship. But the woman had been clear that a condom must be used.

According to the verdict from Södertörn District Court, however, the man questioned the condom requirement. He perceived the reason the woman wanted to use a condom was for his sake, since she had recently had sex with another man.

The court’s verdict states, ‘When the man told her he had ejaculated inside her, she panicked, tried to push him away, started screaming at him, and then ran into the bathroom.’

After the incident, the woman reportedly sent a WhatsApp message to the man, saying: ‘How many times have I told you to use that damn condom?’

The man has now been convicted, despite denying the charges, to three years in prison, and must also pay just over 230,000 kronor in damages to the woman.
