On Sunday, Elon Musk’s SpaceX successfully conducted a test flight with the ‘Starship,’ where the rocket’s booster returned to Earth and flew in precisely to be caught by a stand, allowing that part of the rocket to be reused.
The 125-meter-tall rocket is the most powerful ever and consists of two parts, a launch rocket, or booster, and an upper section that can transport cargo or astronauts into orbit.
Cheers erupted as the booster returned to Earth and was caught by the mechanical arms of the launch tower. SpaceX’s goal is rapid rocket reuse for future moon missions and Mars expeditions.
‘A day for the history books,’ the engineers noted at SpaceX as the launch rocket landed safely.
