After shouting vile insults at and hitting Sweden Democrat member of parliament Jessica Stegrud on the arm, the woman was initially cleared of suspicion when the police investigation was closed. However, Stegrud appealed, and now a 34-year-old woman is being prosecuted for harassment. In police questioning, she claims that Stegrud provoked her and that she was especially upset that the SD MP allegedly said she ‘didn’t look like a taxpayer.’

On June 11, 2025, Jessica Stegrud, Sweden Democrat MP, went outside to take pictures for parliamentary committee material when she was confronted by a group of Palestine demonstrators.

In a video Stegrud posted on social media, a Muslim woman in a veil is seen following her, calling her ‘fucking disgusting’, also ‘fuck you, fucking bastard whore’, and ‘you support genocide.’ At one point, the woman also hits Stegrud’s hand.

When Stegrud asks the Muslim woman to leave her alone, she responds with aggressive dominance behavior.

– I’ll stand here if I want to! If you think it’s uncomfortable, then you back off! she shouts in Stegrud’s face.

Police Investigation Dropped

Despite the entire incident being caught on film, the preliminary investigation leader chose to close the police investigation around September 15, 2025. The reason given was that ‘further investigation is unlikely to lead to proof of a crime.’

In a comment on the decision, Jessica Stegrud wrote the following on social media:

According to Swedish law (?) or the deciding police/prosecutor (?), it’s not harassment to threaten, scream at, and physically attack an elected politician outside Parliament. “The investigation is closed.” This despite the entire course of events being caught on film. I rest my case.

She also announced that she had decided to appeal the closure decision by requesting a review.

Police Investigation Reopened

Around October 30, 2025, however, the preliminary investigation leader chose to reopen the police investigation after Stegrud requested a review.

On September 18 this year, prosecutor Agnes Morén filed charges against Loujina Chekh Al Chabab, 34.

In the indictment sent to Stockholm District Court, it is stated that Al Chabab harassed Jessica Stegrud by saying ‘fuck you, you fucking bastard whore’ and making other offensive statements as well as by hitting her arm.

Blames “Racist” Elected Officials

When Al Chabab is confronted with the video clips during police questioning, she says that Stegrud provoked her with ‘mocking grins.’ She is also upset that Stegrud, according to her, allegedly said she didn’t look like someone who pays taxes.

– And I still can’t, after almost a year now, understand how anybody, especially an elected representative, can behave so racist. And say things like that. That I didn’t look like a taxpayer.

Nonetheless, she is clear that – despite the video material – she denies the crime.

She was previously convicted in December 2019 of violent resistance after becoming aggressive towards police officers during a ticket inspection on a city bus in Stockholm.
