There were no new attacks against Iran during the night leading up to Wednesday. After U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to wipe out “an entire civilization,” new developments emerged.
If the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened for oil traffic by 2 a.m. Swedish time on Wednesday, an entire civilization will die, never to return again. That was Trump’s statement yesterday, but shortly after midnight the president announced that a two-week ceasefire would commence after Iran agreed to reopen the strait.
“The reason for this is that we have already achieved and exceeded all military objectives, and are well advanced in negotiating a final agreement for long-term PEACE with Iran and PEACE in the Middle East. We received a ten-point proposal from Iran and consider it a viable basis for negotiations. Nearly all different points from previous disputes have been agreed upon between the U.S. and Iran, but a two-week period will allow the agreement to be finalized and completed,” Trump writes.

In a follow-up post, Trump writes that it is a great day for world peace, and Iran is said to have had enough. The U.S. will now assist in reopening the Strait of Hormuz. If things go well, Trump hopes for a new golden age for the Middle East as well.

Official statement from Iran:

Speaking to the media, Trump said that Iran’s uranium will be “taken care of,” otherwise he would not have agreed to the ceasefire.
According to Iran, these are the points that have been agreed upon:
No repeat of “aggression” against Iran
Iran’s continued control over the Strait of Hormuz
That Iran is allowed to enrich uranium
Lifting of direct sanctions against Iran
Lifting of indirect sanctions against Iran
Withdrawal of all UN Security Council resolutions
Withdrawal of all International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) resolutions
Payment of compensation to Iran
Withdrawal of American troops from the region
Ending the war on all fronts
Following the announcement, oil prices plummeted.
