COLUMN • Birth rates in Sweden are falling rapidly and are now at historically low levels. At the same time, one in five young women reports considering not having children—often citing the climate and growing anxiety about the future. But behind this development lies something deeper than individual life choices. For several decades, an ideological climate has developed that undermines the family, faith in the future, and the will to carry civilization forward. In parallel, mass immigration has changed Sweden’s demographic composition beyond recognition.
The women of Sweden—and by extension, all of the Western world—are in the process of abolishing themselves. And in the long run, also the civilization they are part of.
Birth rates are falling rapidly. At the same time, one in five young women reports considering opting out of having children because of the alleged climate crisis.
I therefore claim that feminism is one of the most destructive ideologies ever to take root in the Swedish social fabric. I don’t say this as an opponent of women’s rights. On the contrary. I am a strong advocate for equality.

This is not just a sociological phenomenon. It is the result of an ideological climate that, for over half a century, has systematically worked to undermine the structures that made the Western world strong—the family, the nation, and faith in the future.

A Radicalized Feminist Dogma
Feminism has played a central role in this development. Under the guise of fighting for equality, it has increasingly come to describe the Western—and especially the white—man as the root of all evil.
At the same time, this ideology has formed grotesque alliances. It has joined forces with apocalyptic climate activism and with movements fundamentally opposed to women’s freedom—such as Islamist fundamentalism.

Even more crucial is that feminist dogma has gained a deep foothold in the Swedish educational system. From preschools and teacher training to universities and agencies like Skolverket, feminist theory has become the norm.
For a long time, a central goal has been to break down the idea of the nuclear family. To relativize, weaken, or entirely question the role of the man and the father.

At the same time, men have become fewer and fewer along this educational chain. The result has been an increasingly one-sided ideological climate—where feminism has been able to radicalize even as it continues to be presented as self-evident and uncontroversial.
But it’s no longer about equality. And in fact, it hasn’t been for at least four decades.

Legislation on insemination has changed so that children can now be conceived without a father present at all. Meanwhile, the feminist LGBTQ movement has made the heteronormative family structure seem suspicious—a structure that has been challenged and broken up.

In parallel, popular culture has delivered an uninterrupted narrative. In film, TV series, and other cultural productions—quite often funded by tax money through institutions like SVT Drama and the Swedish Film Institute—Swedish men have repeatedly been portrayed as violent, dangerous, incompetent, or morally inadequate.
“Ethnic Cleansing”
The message has been clear—the Western man is the problem. The propaganda has been so extensive that it has demonstrably affected how young women view relationships, family, and the future.
There were even reports, for a time, of women wanting to opt out of male fetuses during insemination or aborting male fetuses. Meanwhile, advertising is increasingly signaling that the traditional Swedish family—with a Swedish father—should be replaced by other ideals.

The first front in this development is thus inside Western society itself—a cultural and ideological campaign encouraging European women to abstain from children—or from forming families with men from their own culture. The second front is demographic—a politically orchestrated mass immigration from regions with completely different population patterns. The result is mathematically predictable.

At universities, this ideological complex has been institutionalized through subjects like “critical whiteness studies” and intersectional “gender studies” where the historical heritage of Western civilization is consistently portrayed as something reprehensible and undesirable—something that should be rejected.

These are not isolated phenomena. Together, they form a more than clear pattern—a pattern which is rapidly leading to the gradual end of European peoples’ ability to reproduce themselves.
In parallel, another development is underway—a mass immigration from, above all, Muslim regions where family structures, gender roles, and demographics are entirely different.

In many of these societies, the woman’s role is still closely tied to the home and motherhood. Birth rates are very high—while those in Europe fall.

This creates a demographic dynamic that is impossible to ignore. The words “ethnic cleansing” and racial biology are relevant in this context.

The Apocalyptic Climate Ideology
To all this is added perhaps the most powerful driving force of all—the apocalyptic climate ideology.
Through schools, politics, and the media, a generation of young people has been fed the message that the future is dark, uncertain, and threatened. Especially young women seem to absorb this worldview—not least through a school system that has long been shaped by feminist ideology and where women today dominate almost the entire educational pipeline.
I don’t want to have children, because of the climate, because I believe that the next generation’s children will not have it better than I did growing up. And to have children in a geopolitically insecure world and with climate changes that will increase this, I don’t think my children would have it particularly good at all, and that’s why I avoid having children today.

At the same time, women vote for left-wing parties to a greater extent than men—parties that, to varying degrees, have internalized the same ideological complex—feminism, the climate apocalypse, and an uncritical view of mass immigration and Islamism.

The result is a generation that has been fed the idea that the future is dark and threatening. Many young women therefore carry a deep anxiety about the future—an anxiety which in turn contributes to them forgoing having children.
When a civilization starts convincing its own young that the future is hopeless and its own biological human type is undesirable, it also starts to end.

And when a generation of women stops believing in tomorrow, they also stop giving birth to the children who would have populated it.
Mission accomplished.
