Since the Tidö government took office almost two years ago, seven times as many deportation flights to Iraq have been approved as during the entire previous term. This is revealed by Samnytt.

During Stefan Löfven’s and Magdalena Andersson’s ministries, from the 2018 election until October 18, 2022, only one deportation flight to Baghdad was booked, on June 23, 2021.

In 2022, no such deportation flights were carried out, but from the fall of 2023 onwards, the flights have started in earnest. At least compared to previous years.

Seven Flights

The first flight since the Tidö government took office, according to documents from the Swedish Transport Agency that Samnytt has seen, was on September 26, 2023. Then, another flight was decided on October 17 the same fall, and a third flight on November 29.

In 2024, flights to Baghdad have been carried out on April 17, June 11-12, May 14, and the fourth and latest today on October 9.

A total of seven flights within just over a year. Or seven times as many as during the entire previous term when Stefan Löfven and Magdalena Andersson were prime ministers.

It is unclear how many forcibly deported migrants are on board Wednesday’s flight to Baghdad. Previous flights have been conducted under police escort, something that Wednesday’s flight, according to the permit, lacks.
