Only four percent of Americans think it would be a good idea to use military force to take Greenland from Denmark. This is according to a poll conducted by the research institute Ipsos on behalf of news agency Reuters.
According to the survey, which was conducted on January 12 and 13, Donald Trump’s plans to take over Greenland—by any means—have weak support. Only 17 percent support the plans, while 47 percent oppose them.
And the idea of using military force to take over Greenland from Denmark, something Trump has threatened, meets with even greater resistance. Only 4 percent think it is a good idea, while 71 percent think it is a bad one. A quarter of the respondents do not know what they think or declined to answer the question.
There is, however, more support for building more American bases on Greenland. A third of those surveyed think that is a good idea, while almost as many think it is a bad one.
Dissatisfied with Trump
According to the poll, a majority of Americans are dissatisfied with how Donald Trump handles important political issues.
Just over 60 percent are dissatisfied with how the president handles the issue that most deem most important: their cost of living. And 55 percent are unhappy with how the country’s economy is being managed.
The political area Trump scores best on is crime policy. Unfortunately for the American president, it’s an issue that only seven percent consider the most important.
The so-called Epstein files are also something many think Trump has handled poorly. However, the issue does not engage as many people as their own finances do.
