Northvolt has made a tax payment to the Swedish Tax Agency. This was stated by the company’s press manager Matti Kataja to Ekonomikanalen.
Last week, the battery manufacturer had a tax debt of 287 million SEK, which had to be paid by today, Monday. The debt consisted of unpaid VAT, employer contributions, and deducted tax.

Northvolt now states that a tax payment has been made to the Swedish Tax Agency. If the tax debt had not been paid, the company would likely have been declared bankrupt. Kataja also told TT that “significant progress” has been made in a new financing round.
Last week, the subsidiary Northvolt Ett Expansion AB, which had tens of millions of SEK in payment orders from the Enforcement Authority, was declared bankrupt. The subsidiary was responsible for the interrupted expansion in Skellefteå.
It is expected that by the end of this week, there will be news from the negotiations with the union about the 1600 employees who have been notified of termination.
