On Sunday, Donald Trump held one of his massive campaign rallies in California. Despite two assassination attempts in a short period and heightened security, an armed man managed to bypass security checks and enter the area. However, the man was apprehended before Trump had a chance to take the stage.
49-year-old Vem Miller was traveling in a car with false registration plates and had loaded firearms and several passports.
The local police chief, Chad Bianco, believes that the man’s plan was to assassinate Trump.

“I sincerely believe that we prevented a new assassination attempt,” said Bianco during a press conference.
Trump had not yet taken the stage when the arrest took place, and thanks to the swift action, the former president was never in direct danger.
Released on Bail
Despite the rigorous security, the man managed to bypass the outer security checkpoint but was then caught at another checkpoint.
Miller claimed to be a journalist, possibly with fake press credentials.
However, the Secret Service does not believe that Miller was attempting to assassinate Trump but had the weapons for personal defense.
The man was released on bail later on Sunday but is suspected of weapons offenses, and an investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
