26-year-old Liam Hast is charged with the murder of 47-year-old ambulance nurse Helena Löfgren in Harmånger in September this year. This is evident from the prosecutor’s application for summons.

On September 20th this year, an ambulance is called to an address in Harmånger in Nordanstig municipality. It is a so-called priority 3 alarm; the lowest priority, and it concerns a psychiatric case.

But when the ambulance arrives to help 26-year-old Liam Hast, who is feeling unwell, he attacks and stabs 47-year-old ambulance nurse Helena Löfgren “repeatedly”.

Helena is so seriously injured that she dies.

Previous attack

The brutal murder is not really unexpected.

Three days before the murder of Helena Löfgren, 65-year-old ambulance nurse Per Brinkberg went to the same address in Harmånger to handle the same violent patient.

At that time, Liam Hast armed himself with a baseball bat and attacked the ambulance nurse.

But Per Brinkberg practices martial arts and has a black belt in Ju-Jutsu. So he manages to defend himself against the attack.

Wanted to kill people

And in August, the month before the murder, Liam Hast is taken into custody by ambulance personnel. In the ambulance, he says that he wants to kill people.

Police take over the custody, handcuff the 26-year-old, and drive him to the psychiatric ward in Hudiksvall.

Inside the psychiatry, Liam Hast is violent and continues to be threatening. And a witness hears him talk about how he wants to kill other people. Something he succeeds in doing a month later.

Charged with murder

Now Liam Hast is charged with murder. In the interrogation, he admits ”the actual circumstances”, but claims that he lacked intent for murder.

He is also charged with assaulting ambulance nurse Per Brinkberg. In that case, he admits ”parts of the sequence of events”.
