Raped Swedish Teen in Store Toilet - Care, Not Deportation
Somali-born Ibrahim Hassan Addan, 27, locked a 16-year-old Swedish girl in a Hemköp toilet and raped her. Linköping District Court ordered forensic psychiatric care. Swedish citizenship blocks deportation.
LINKÖPING - He locked a 16-year-old Swedish girl in a supermarket toilet, forced her into a sexual act and used violence when she said no. Two months earlier he had tried to rape an assistant nurse on a psychiatric ward. Linköping District Court has now convicted him of aggravated rape and several other sex crimes - then ordered forensic psychiatric care instead of prison.
Because Ibrahim Hassan Addan, 27, holds Swedish citizenship, he cannot be deported to Somalia.
The attack happened in late June, after two 16-year-old girls took the bus to a beach in Linköping. On the bus they met Addan, who sat at the back playing loud music. Later the same day they ran into him again near Stora torget. He followed them to the toilets at a Hemköp store.
Inside, he pushed the girl's friend out, locked the door and attacked the 16-year-old. When she refused, he strangled and slapped her and forced her to perform a sexual act. The assault ended when people began banging on the door. Surveillance footage later showed the girl leaving upset and in tears.
Earlier attack on a nurse
About two months before the rape, Addan was a patient on a psychiatric ward at Linköping University Hospital. He lured an assistant nurse into a toilet under the pretext of a wound, then sexually assaulted her and tried to rape her. She told him to stop. The court found her account credible beyond reasonable doubt.
The court also convicted him over two other harassment cases in Linköping: one at a McDonald's against a mother with her nine-year-old son, and one against a woman out jogging along Rydsvägen.

Six and a half years' worth - then "care"
On 28 October, Linköping District Court convicted Addan of aggravated rape, attempted rape, two counts of sexual molestation, one count of harassment and a minor drug offence. Judges put the aggregate penalty value at about six years and six months in prison.
A forensic psychiatric report concluded that he committed the crimes under the influence of a serious mental disorder. The court therefore ordered forensic psychiatric care with special discharge review - not a prison term.
Damages: 340,000 kronor to the raped girl, 160,667 to the assistant nurse, 21,501 jointly to the mother and her son, and 15,000 to the woman who was jogging.
Citizen - so no deportation
Addan arrived in Sweden in 2015 under the Löfven government and received permanent residence later that year. In January 2025 he became a Swedish citizen.
Including this verdict he has now been tied to eight crimes since citizenship. Deportation to Somalia is off the table.
