On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump increased the pressure on Iran, writing on social media that a “massive armada” is on its way to the country. He warns that a major attack could be imminent.
According to Trump, the armada is moving “quickly, with great force, enthusiasm, and purpose,” and is led by the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln—the same one sent to Venezuela when President Nicolás Maduro was ousted.
“Just as with Venezuela, it is ready, willing, and capable of quickly fulfilling its mission, with speed and force, if needed,” Trump writes.
The president hopes that Iran will quickly come to the negotiating table. At the same time, he emphasizes that time is running out.

Major attack
When Trump previously urged Iran to negotiate, they refused, resulting in the attack Operation Midnight Hammer. Any potential next attack will be much worse, the president assures.
It was in June that Trump approved strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities in an operation the administration claimed wiped out the country’s nuclear program.
In recent weeks, the president has advocated for “new leadership” in Iran and threatened to use force after the regime responded with violence to the large protests in the country.
