Sami Abu Salem, a long-time employee of Swedish Radio reporting from Gaza, is simultaneously working for the Palestinian propaganda organization Wafa. This has been brought to attention on social media.

Wikalat al-Anba al-Filastiniya (Wafa), or the Palestinian News and Information Agency in English, is directly subordinate to the Fatah-led regime in the West Bank.

Wafa’s official mission is to cover everything related to ”the Palestinian issue” and convey ”the Palestinian perspective”.

Engaged by Swedish Radio

One of Wafa’s employees is Sami Abu Salem. In his reporting for Wafa, he often highlights the war crimes that Israel has evidently committed against the Palestinian civilian population. He also accuses the Israeli military of committing massacres and genocide.

In addition to working for Wafa, Sami Abu Salem is a long-time employee of the Swedish Radio’s Ekot department. However, critics argue that it is inappropriate for the Swedish public radio to engage him while he works for a Palestinian propaganda actor.

The reliance of Western newsrooms on Wafa’s reporting and their employees has previously been criticized by Jewish lobbyists.

Samnytt has reached out to Klas Wolf-Watz, head of the Swedish Radio’s Ekot department. We have attempted to contact him via both phone and email, but he has not responded.
