A 43-year-old woman in Kristianstad has been sentenced to 40 daily fines for insulting a public official after she called a judge “little asshole” in an email. This was decided by the Court of Appeal for Skåne and Blekinge.

The 43-year-old woman has, for some time, harbored anger towards Kristianstad District Court. The reason is a heated custody dispute that has been ongoing for several years, where her opponent is a former partner with whom she has a daughter.

The woman is dissatisfied with the extent of visitation with her daughter granted by the court. Therefore, she has sent a large number of emails and other messages to the district court expressing her complaints.

“Little asshole”

The emails the 43-year-old sent to the court are long, incoherent, and disorganized. For those reading them, it is unclear what exactly she wants.

What is clear is that the woman is upset and dissatisfied. In one email, she calls the judge who ruled against her “little asshole.”

– I thought that was over the line, says the judge in question. He states:

– She is angry at the district court and authorities in general. Angry at her ex-partner.

The woman has, on several occasions, accused her ex-partner of being a pedophile, something she has also been convicted for.

Convicted again

The 43-year-old woman has now been convicted again. This time for insulting a public official, sentenced to 40 daily fines of 50 kronor and to pay 1,000 kronor to the Crime Victim Fund.

“The statement cannot be perceived as anything other than a derogatory remark intended to offend his dignity. It has also crossed the line of what a judge, in the exercise of official duties, is expected to tolerate,” wrote Kristina Andersson, chief judge of Kristianstad District Court, in her ruling in November last year.

That verdict has now been upheld by the Court of Appeal for Skåne and Blekinge.

Previously, persons who called police officers on duty “cocksucker” or “fucking police cunt” have been acquitted in several Court of Appeal rulings. These have not been considered as insult to a public official.
