A household in southern Sweden with direct electric heating would receive 96 kronor in support for October under the government's own example, with payment planned for spring 2027, Samnytt reports.
The proposed high-cost protection is triggered when the monthly average spot price exceeds 150 öre per kilowatt-hour. October's average in electricity price area 4 was 157 öre, according to the government's presentation.
Support covers the price above the threshold for 90 percent of consumption. Network charges, taxes and value-added tax are excluded from the calculation.
For a house using 20,000 kilowatt-hours a year, the government's example puts October's electricity cost at 2,506 kronor and the support at 96 kronor. Other examples give 48 kronor for a typical house, 24 for a larger apartment and 12 for a smaller one.
Energy Minister Ebba Busch acknowledged at a press conference that the October payment would be modest.
The Swedish Social Insurance Agency is expected to pay automatically, without an application, through one combined payment for October, November and December. The later months qualify only if their average prices also exceed the threshold.
The scheme still requires the government to adopt a support regulation. The announced payments should not be described as money already paid or as a fully enacted entitlement.
