For the first time, Sweden Democrats party leader Jimmie Åkesson has higher trust among voters than the Social Democrats’ Magdalena Andersson. This is shown by Demoskop’s latest party leader confidence survey.

According to the survey, 43 percent of voters state that they have great or fairly great confidence in Åkesson. Magdalena Andersson is at 42 percent, meaning that she trails the SD leader in this poll for the first time.

This development is described as part of a longer trend, where the gap between the two has gradually narrowed. Johan Martinsson, head of opinion at Demoskop, notes that the difference is now statistically significant.

“It’s part of a pattern, we’ve seen how he has gradually closed in on her,” Johan Martinsson tells Aftonbladet.

While Åkesson’s numbers remain at about the same level as last month, Andersson has lost several percentage points. The decline is particularly noticeable among voters who sympathize with the Green Party and the Centre Party, according to the poll.

The only voter group where Andersson increases her level of trust is among Left Party sympathizers.

At the bottom of the confidence league is the Liberal Party leader Simona Mohamsson. She continues to register low numbers, remaining at around four percent in the survey.
