President Volodymyr Zelensky’s advisor Mykhailo Podoliak has suggested in an interview with Ukrainian media that the EU countries critical of Ukraine and not supporting Zelensky’s current line, but instead advocating for peace talks, should leave the European Union.
In an interview with the Ukrainian news agency RBC Ukraine, the former journalist and now presidential advisor Mykhailo Podoliak expressed his views on the EU countries Slovakia and Hungary, which are working to facilitate peace talks and an end to the war, instead of continued military support.
Podoliak accuses Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of working against Ukraine by blocking EU support and also acting pro-Russian.
– They have become more pro-Russian, it is obvious. This is nonsense. Honestly, one of the main motives for this war is Russia’s attempt to dominate the European political and economic market. And the prime ministers of Slovakia and Hungary have openly positioned themselves in pro-Russian positions, and it is a bit strange to me, Podoliak told RBC Ukraine.
“Genocide Acts”
Zelensky’s advisor cannot understand why the leaders of Slovakia and Hungary have this stance for a country that rejects international law and commits “genocide acts” in Ukraine.
As Zelensky’s advisor vented his frustration over the current situation, he also suggested that such countries should leave the EU.
– That is why it is strange when a country like Slovakia comes out and says: “let’s work with Russia after all.” Slovakia should instead come out and say: You know, we cannot stay in the EU, we have to leave because we believe that Russia is right, Podoliak told RBC Ukraine.
Furthermore, Zelensky’s advisor expressed that it is strange that Slovakia and Hungary have this stance and allow Russia to destroy Ukraine just because the country is not a member of the EU or NATO.
