On Tuesday, the incoming president of the United States, Donald Trump, held a press conference where he addressed several different topics ahead of his second term. One of these topics was energy policy and specifically the green transition with the construction of wind power – something that Trump has promised to put a stop to.

It was on Tuesday that Trump had arranged a press conference at his home Mar-a-Lago in Florida. One announcement is that Trump aims to sign an executive order against the construction of wind power on his first day as president.

Trump is convinced that it is the right decision to take because he believes that wind power is expensive, environmentally damaging, and also a threat to wildlife including whales.

– We will have a policy where no wind turbines are built, said Trump at the press conference.

The incoming president did not mince words, claiming that in fact, no one wants to live near wind turbines or even have them at all – neither on land nor along the coast.

– They (the wind power, ed. note) litter our country. It’s like throwing paper, like throwing garbage in a field and over time they become garbage.

He also attacked environmental activists who advocate for wind turbines and argues that it sounds good but in the end, they just end up abandoned and rusting.

– It’s amazing how a true environmentalist says: ‘oh, we love wind’, but that’s where it ends. After ten years, they need to be renovated, and what happens is that they don’t. They let them stand and rust, and they say the blades can’t be buried because they are made of a certain type of fiberglass. So what do you do with them?

“Only works if they get subsidies”

According to the incoming president, it is only the green industry that wants these wind turbines because they make huge profits from government subsidies for the transition.

– It is the most expensive energy ever. They only work if they get subsidies. The only ones who want them are those who get rich from wind turbines by receiving huge subsidies from the American government.
