A 19-year-old man with a non-Western immigrant background and Swedish citizenship was sentenced to five years in prison on Wednesday for detonating a hand grenade in a jewelry store in Valby, Denmark. The verdict is the first in a series against gang criminals based in Sweden operating in the neighboring country.

In recent decades, exceptionally high non-Western immigration to Sweden has not only created extensive problems with gang crime at home. In recent years, this criminal activity has begun to spill over into our neighboring countries.

The Danish judicial system is now taking action against the wave of criminals who have crossed the border from Sweden to commit serious crimes in Denmark. The first related verdict was handed down on Wednesday in the Frederiksberg District Court.
