On Wednesday, a new opinion poll is presented where the Social Democrats are making strong gains and the opposition’s lead over the Tidö parties is increasing slightly. At the same time, support for the Sweden Democrats in one of the party’s strongest strongholds has decreased slightly since the election.
In Verian’s November poll, the Social Democrats are still the largest party with 34.5 percent, an increase of 1.6 percentage points. This is the party’s highest support since April.
This time, the Moderates become the second largest party. This time, the Christian Democrats also manage to just surpass the parliamentary threshold, while the Liberals are stuck far below – where the party has been for more than two years.

Decrease in Skåne
Skåne and Blekinge have long been some of the Sweden Democrats’ strongest strongholds, but now the advantage there seems to be decreasing slightly. In Skåne, the opposition has even surpassed the Tidö parties.
Since the election just over two years ago, the Tidö parties have lost just over eight percentage points in Skåne – during the same period, the opposition has grown by the same amount.
Over the two years, the Sweden Democrats have decreased by around 3.5 percentage points in both Skåne and Blekinge.
In Skåne, and especially in Malmö, the population exchange is happening rapidly, which also affects how people vote, but it is not a reason mentioned when state television speculates about the cause.
– It’s actually a bit of a mystery, says political scientist Anders Sannerstedt.
Riksdag member and district chairman in Skåne, Mikael Eskilandersson (SD), argues that it is easier to be in opposition than in government.
Women leaning more left
The numbers also show that women in general have become more left-leaning since the election.
In particular, this is evident in women’s support for the Social Democrats, which has increased by 5.6 percentage points since 2022.
