Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist was officially elected as the new leader of the Center Party during the party congress in Karlstad on Thursday. The first thing she does as the new C-leader is to appoint stopping the Sweden Democrats as the most important issue.

Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist was nominated by the Center Party’s nomination committee.

“I am proud and honored, but also humble in the face of the assignment. We are entering an election year and we will work together to achieve as much impact for the Center Party’s policies as possible. In municipalities, regions, and parliament. Together, we can ensure that there are more jobs, that emissions decrease, and that Sweden once again becomes a country with hope for the future,” says Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist.

In her inaugural speech, Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist stated that if the Center Party and the Moderates are to be able to cooperate again, “Ulf Kristersson needs to let go of his dependence on the Sweden Democrats.” She also emphasized that “this government must be replaced” and that “the influence of the Sweden Democrats must be stopped.”

When it comes to the question of the Prime Minister, it seems to be irrelevant which side wins :

“It is obvious that we are prepared to cooperate with other parties after the election. Today there are three prime minister candidates, Jimmie Åkesson, Ulf Kristersson, and Magdalena Andersson. The Center Party is prepared to negotiate with two of them.”

“Magdalena Andersson, who leads a party with which we have often cooperated to take responsibility for Sweden. We have stabilized the economy and strengthened welfare. We have, with the Social Democrats, lowered taxes and created better conditions for the country’s entrepreneurs. We can do that again.”

“We can also negotiate with Ulf Kristersson. He leads a party with which we have also had good cooperation. We have even been in government together. Then we reduced emissions and ensured that there were more jobs. But right now, the Moderates have chosen a cooperation that leads to completely opposite results. They have also chosen completely the wrong company.”

Wants to have a conversation

The C-leader invites Kristersson and Andersson to a conversation.

“Magdalena Andersson, let’s make a visit – where we see how jobs can increase. And, Ulf Kristersson, let’s make another visit – where we see how emissions can actually decrease. Because the better we understand Sweden, the clearer the task becomes. And the better we understand each other, the greater the opportunity to cooperate, for the good of Sweden.”
