The murder of a 37-year-old man in Värmdö outside Stockholm was to save the honor of a twelve years younger Afghan woman, with whom the man had a sugar daddy-like relationship. These are new details in the investigation that have now been made public by the court.

On Tuesday, charges were brought in Nacka District Court against three Afghans; two men and a mother of two.

25-year-old Wajiha Korashi and her 20-year-old boyfriend Saeed Waziri are charged with murder, while Wajiha’s older brother Sayed Korashi is charged with, among other things, helping his sister to flee the country after the murder.

Gold and diamonds

The entire murder drama revolves around Wajiha Korashi. She had a relationship with the man twelve years her senior, something that was already known when the charges were brought to the district court.

But during the week, the court has released more details describing the nature of the relationship. This has been possible to establish thanks to transcripts of conversations, mobile connections, images, receipts, and card transactions.

Wajiha meets the older man in October 2023. At that time, she is married to another man, who does not live in Sweden, and has two children with a third man whom she has only been married to “in a Muslim way”.

In mid-November, Wajiha checks into a hotel with her new fling. Thereafter, they have close contact and seem to meet both at her home and at his.

The man buys expensive jewelry for Wajiha, in gold and diamonds. Receipts show that he spends tens of thousands of kronor on his mistress in a short time. But not only that, he also takes nude photos of and records sex videos with the 25-year-old woman.

Accused of rape

And when the 25-year-old wants to withdraw from the role of “sugar girl”, it is primarily these videos and photos that worry her. She is afraid that her so-called honor may be damaged if the images are released, and her family finds out what she is involved in.

Therefore, on February 1, 2024, the woman reports the former lover for rape and assault, and an investigation is initiated. The accused man is arrested the same day, and his mobile phone is seized.

The day after the report is made, Wajiha calls the police again and says that the most important thing for her is that they remove the pictures he has of her. The alleged rapes are less important. She tells the police to investigate “if they want to”.

This is something the investigators react to. The following day, the man accused of rape is released on bail again.

Dead in a bag

On March 10, 2024, a bag with a dead man inside is found near Värmdöleden on Värmdö. It is the man accused of rape who is found dead in the bag.

The police immediately suspect that Wajiha Korashi, his former mistress, is involved. She is arrested the same day in her absence.

It later emerges that Wajiha murdered the 37-year-old man together with her new 20-year-old boyfriend Saeed Waziri. The 37-year-old man was lured to her home, where his throat was cut before being dumped in a bag in the woods.

But when the dead man is found, he has been dead in the bag for three days. And the main suspect is no longer in Sweden.

To dad in the USA

The same day as the murder, on March 7, Wajiha Korashi’s older brother drove her to Germany. There, she received help from a cousin to arrange a fake German passport, with which she flew on to Mexico, via Turkey.

From Mexico, she crossed the border to the USA, from Tijuana to San Diego. The goal was to reach her father, who lives outside Sacramento in California.

By this time, Wajiha is internationally wanted, and on May 22, she is arrested by US Marshalls. In November 2024, she is extradited to Sweden.

The original plan was for Saeed Waziri, her boyfriend, to also go to the USA, but he is arrested on the Öresund train in Lund as he is on his way to Germany after the murder.

From Afghanistan

All three involved in the murder, 25-year-old Wajiha Korashi, her 20-year-old boyfriend Saeed Waziri, and Wajiha’s brother Sayed Korashi, come from Afghanistan.

Wajiha and her brother Sayed came to Sweden during the migrant crisis in 2015 as family immigrants, as their mother had previously been granted a residence permit in the country. Their mother even applied for financial assistance for plane tickets to be reunited with her children.

Sayed Korashi was granted Swedish citizenship in December 2023, less than three months before the murder.

However, on January 29, 2024, Wajiha Korashi’s citizenship application is rejected. The reason is that she had previously been convicted of a crime and thus did not meet the requirements for an honorable life.

Her co-accused boyfriend Saeed Waziri came to Sweden in 2017. He has been a Swedish citizen since May 2022.

Wants to become a police officer

When Wajiha Korashi applied for Swedish citizenship in May 2023, she stated a special reason why she wanted her application to be approved.

“I want to get my passport as soon as possible because I have studied the social science program in high school, and I have longed for my passport because I am going to start studying police training, and Swedish citizenship is required to become a police officer, so I want to have it as soon as possible,” she wrote.

Now the prosecutor wants Wajiha Korashi to be convicted of murder and deported for life for the murder of her former sugar daddy.

Her co-accused boyfriend and her brother, on the other hand, cannot be deported as they are now Swedish citizens.
