Prime Minister: “Domestic terrorism”
Over the past day, several bombings have shaken southern Stockholm. Apartment buildings and premises in Bagarmossen, Blåsut, Kärrtorp, and Årstaberg have been targeted by the gangs.
During the night to Tuesday, a bomb also exploded in Helsingborg. Furthermore, the police were alerted to a shooting in Sundbyberg in western Stockholm. It has recently been reported that Sweden has been hit by 30 bombings since New Year’s Day – in other words, in 28 days.
On Tuesday evening, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) commented on the gang violence erupting on the streets and in residential areas. Kristersson referred to gang violence as “domestic terrorism” and promised that society will stop the gangs.
He also announced that Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) has called for a meeting with the council against organized crime.
– The criminal gangs display total indifference to the public. This is domestic terrorism that we must combat with the collective strength of society, said the leader of the Moderate Party to Aftonbladet.
