The 26-year-old man who fatally stabbed the 60-year-old store clerk at Ica Maxi in Botkyrka, south of Stockholm, is from India. The migrant has obtained Swedish citizenship and therefore cannot be deported if convicted.
It was around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday when the police received a report that a female store clerk was seriously injured after being stabbed by a man in the store.

The movements of the knife-wielding man in the store, especially in the kitchen department, caught the attention of a security guard through surveillance cameras. According to images from the surveillance footage that Expressen has seen, the man is then seen stabbing a store clerk next to other customers with shopping carts.
After the murder, the man calmly left the scene. Security personnel who had been following the events rushed into the store and took control of the perpetrator while waiting for the police to arrive. According to reports, there is no connection between the man and the female store clerk.
According to Expressen, the perpetrator was born in India and obtained Swedish citizenship in 2009. He is also a father and married. Furthermore, the man does not appear in the criminal records, but he is said to have been “struggling with mental health issues” for a long time.
