37-year-old Cahit Acar received nearly 700,000 SEK from the Chancellor of Justice last year in compensation for deprivation of liberty. Thus, the criminal Turkish citizen became the one who received the most JK money in 2024 in the controversial reward system for gang criminals.
It has been criticized by anti-crime voices, especially since a rapist in 2021 was rewarded with 840,000 SEK – despite being convicted of rape.

But the new SD-supported government has ignored the critical voices and continued with the system where convicted criminals can receive taxpayer money from the Chancellor of Justice for being deprived of liberty.
Criminal Kurd receives 700,000
And last year’s jackpot, nearly 700,000 SEK, goes to the multi-criminal Cahit Acar.
Acar is a 37-year-old Kurd from the village of Karayazi in eastern Turkey. In Sweden, he has been convicted of several crimes and appears in no less than 17 sections of the criminal record.
The 37-year-old, who claims to be illiterate, has been convicted of, among other things, unlawful threats, assault, and drug offenses. On one occasion, he was caught with a live hand grenade – something for which he was sentenced to eight months in prison.
Acar has systematically committed crimes for most of his time in Sweden. And now he has been rewarded with 698,905 SEK and 56 öre by the Chancellor of Justice.
Acquitted of murder
As mentioned, Cahit Acar has been convicted of a long list of crimes, including violent crimes, and in December 2021, there are suspicions that he is one of several involved in the murder of a 47-year-old compatriot in Huddinge outside Stockholm the month before.

He is arrested, remanded in custody, and later sentenced by the district court to life imprisonment and lifelong deportation for the murder. However, the judgment is appealed to the Svea Court of Appeal, which in September 2023 chooses to acquit both Acar and the other three convicted of murder.
“On an overall assessment, it can be noted that the investigation strongly indicates that at least some of the accused were involved in the murder,” writes the Svea Court of Appeal in its judgment.
In the same judgment, however, it is noted that there is “insufficient evidence at the individual level to draw any specific conclusions about a common criminal plan as well as the involvement of each accused in the murder. It cannot be ruled out that other persons may have committed or been involved in the act. None of the accused can therefore be convicted of murder.”
Total of three million SEK
Cahit Acar has been deprived of liberty for just over fifteen months before the Court of Appeal announces its acquittal. And this is also the reason why he receives compensation; about 45,000 SEK for each month he is locked up.
“The applicant is entitled to compensation for the suffering that the deprivation of liberty has entailed,” writes former Chancellor of Justice Mari Heidenborg in her decision.
The Public Prosecution Service opposes the payment of compensation to Acar. The authority argues that “the applicant’s own behavior has led to the decision on deprivation of liberty and that, in view of the other circumstances, it is unreasonable to grant compensation.”
The prosecutor also points out that it is proven that Acar, even though he was acquitted by the Court of Appeal, was linked to the murder in 2021 in such a way that he handled a mobile phone used to lure the victim to the scene of the murder. An objection that the Chancellor of Justice does not consider sufficient.
In addition to Cahit Acar, four others, three of whom are Turkish citizens, are granted money by the Chancellor of Justice after being acquitted of the murder of their compatriot. In total, three million SEK is paid out to the designated murderers. All of these payments make up the top five list of JK’s payments due to deprivation of liberty.
