Speculation has arisen as to whether Biden’s sudden withdrawal from the presidential election was actually his own decision or if he was forced out.

The communication at the time portrayed it as Biden’s own free choice. However, reports last summer suggested that influential Democrats presented Biden with an ultimatum to resign or be removed due to his age and poor performance in both the media and debates against Trump.
